SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST is a qualified health care professional who directs, supervises, evaluates, and provides speech and language therapy services as indicated by the evaluation.
A Speech-Language Pathologist holds a Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology. In order to be considered for the Master's program, you must have an honours undergraduate degree in your field of choice. In addition, several pre-requisite courses are typically required; these may include anatomy, physics, biology, linguistics, psychology, and statistics. Medicare and most insurance companies require a doctor's order/prescription for treatment by a speech pathologist for the purpose of communication between professionals. Legally, speech pathologist may treat private clients without a doctor's order/prescription since they have the qualifications to diagnose and prescribe appropriate treatment.
